Getting that Summer Glow

Getting that Summer Glow

Some call it radiant. Maybe even luminous. But it’s time for summer glowing!

Summer glowin’ and having a blast! Queue the Grease soundtrack! 🙂 Or was it Summer Lovin’? Either way works.

I always add tons more of freckles to my already freckled skin but summer also just adds a flush of color or glow that I wish I could keep all year long. Or maybe it’s the heat. Becuase you KNOW southern women don’t sweat. We glisten.

But this is different.

Beautycounter’s Illuminating Cream Highlighters ($32) create a lit-from-within look that’s perfect not only for summer but all year round.

These cream sticks came out during the holiday season and sold out and now they have been brought back permanently. Thank goodness. Because I’ve been using them every day as a finishing touch for a subtle glow that doesn’t look shiny or oily.

Days when I even don’t feel that great they add a little pep. Days when I’m not wearing makeup. . . . . a few swipes of these does wonders.

I start by simply running the pearl stick around my forehead/hairline lightly. Then I run it right down the top of my nose, slide it across my cupid’s bow, dab it at the tail end of my eyebrows, and lastly just lightly around the top of my cheekbones. I then alternate between the bronze stick or rose stick for blush most days. I’ve also rubbed a bit on my palms and then just rubbed around on my face when wearing no makeup and just moisturizer.

The greatest thing about these is their light creaminess. You can put them on lightly or layer for a more intense glow.

Ky Washington, a fellow Beautycounter consultant, and makeup artist created a stunning glow on this young model below. You can see more of Ky’s work on Facebook and Instagram. Ky did a Meghan Markle wedding/makeup look video which featured the illuminating trio at minute 29. It makes her look dewy! Who knew you could use a Clarisonic that way?

And you don’t have to just use it on your face either. If you are wearing something low cut, run a little bit over your decolletage. Or your collarbones. Or on the tops of your shoulders.

If you want more of a full body glow then you’ll also love our Glow Shimmer Oil made with sesame, jojoba, and grapeseed oil. No glitter. Just shimmer.

It’s perfect for fair and dark skin. It’s lightweight enough to not be oily and shimmer for a long time! Skip the pantyhose and rub it on your legs. Rub some in your hair to add softness and shine. It will give you legs like Alessandra Ambrosio. . . . .well not really but she uses our glow shimmer oil to achieve just the right amount of glow with ingredients that are nourishing and safe for your health. Christy is our Chief Artistic Officer.

Don’t forget you can also get a glow with our physical body exfoliator (I especially love this one on my hands), a chemical face exfoliator scrub or pads or a physical face exfoliation scrub (my husband loves this one from Acure Organics after sweaty tennis days). Getting rid of those cells allows light to bounce off in one smooth direction. Moisturizing well is also key! We need moisture in the summer as too much sun can parch our skin.

So, that’s it! Go get your glow on!

I 💗 sending and receiving happy mail! One of I 💗 sending and receiving happy mail!

One of my very favorite artists, @emily_jeffords, has started a monthly fine art collectors club by mail. June is my first month and it is focused on finding inner peace and the value of a life full of pleasure.

For $12 a month, it includes beautiful artwork titled “When She Smiles”, a letter full of thoughts, a touch of perfume of the month to inspire your senses, affirmation or poetry of the month, and a curated music playlist. One day, I have a dream to actually own an original piece but for now these small prints will do.

I framed this month’s artwork and took it to work to join the other framed pieces I have in my cubicle. Why have an ugly cubicle?

For the 1st time, I finally purchased the Advent c For the 1st time, I finally purchased the Advent calendar in December from @lettersandlattesllc.

I opened each day up to a cool pen surprise. However, I'm just now getting to actually play with them and do the swatch card she includes, and watching each video for the style of lettering with that pen on the card.

This was such a cool way to try out new pens. There was only 1 out of 24 that I had tried before so that meant 22 new pens and 1 new pencil for me! And that is saying a lot becuase I have hundreds of pens and pencils in my collection! Great packaging as well. I didn't spoil the surprise and open them all as soon as I got them but waitied for each day. Can't wait for the 2026 version.
