I titled this post “nightly routine” but I’ll be honest…………….it’s more of the “as soon as I get home and take my bra off” routine. The bra comes first. Wash my face comes second. Priorities. . . . . . right ladies?
I’d like to tell you about my skincare routine mainly to highlight the amazing cleansing balm that is on sale right now. I already did a quick post about it here and how Allure magazine references it in the September issue but this post goes into a little more detail.
3 steps. That’s it!
- I use the Cleansing Balm to take off my makeup. If I didn’t wear makeup that day I use the Charcoal Cleansing Bar.
- Most days I then use Dickinson’s Witch Hazel as a toner but twice a week I use these Rejuvenating Toner Pads.
- I follow that with either the Balancing Face Oil or the Rejuvenating Night Cream. If I’m feeling a little drier than normal I’ll put a drop of the face oil in the night cream. I try to put this on fairly quickly after the toner when my face is still moist. I swipe the oil dropper across my forehead and cheeks and the moisture left on my face from the toner helps the oil/cream glide across my face as I rub it in.
Everything makes my face feel soft and doesn’t sit heavy on my face. My skin just absorbs it so well. Plus, the face oil smells good with the ylang-ylang oil in it so when I kiss my husband good night he lingers a bit. 🙂 That’s totally not a bad thing. Many people use the balm at night and leave it there as an overnight emollient mask or rub it into dry patches, dry heels, eczema patches, etc. My 93-year-old Mammaw would call it a salve. Beautycounter did a blog post on the “6 Reasons Why You Need This Do-It-All Balm in Your Life.”
But, I do all this as soon as I get home from work. I’ve learned that if I wait until I go to bed then I’m just putting this on and going to sleep and my pillowcase doesn’t really need moisturizing. I want it on me and not the pillow. So, I do it when I get home so my skin can soak it in and I reap the lovely benefits.
The Cleansing Balm (2.75 oz jar) retails for $80. I know………..that is a lot of money for face cleaner/makeup remover. But I have been using mine since the first of June and you can see how much I still have left. There are days I don’t use it because I don’t wear makeup every day and I alternate with the Charcoal Cleansing Bar on those days. On average though I’d say I use it about 5 days out of 7. So that is easily 4 months so far with probably at least 2 more months left in this jar. 6 months = $13.50 a month. That really isn’t bad in my opinion for such quality and non-toxic ingredients. It is described on the Beautycounter website as:
Cleansing Balm melts into your skin to hydrate while it cleanses, removing makeup and other impurities but never stripping away moisture. With vitamin C to brighten the appearance of skin and raspberry and cranberry seed oils to hydrate, the formula can also be used as an intensely nourishing face mask. Bonus? You also get a scoop and our reusable 100% muslin cloth, softer and easier on skin than a traditional washcloth.
It’s on sale through the end of September for $55 through me. Or you can shop our Beautycounter for Target collection and get a 1.3 oz. jar for $30 (no muslin cloth included in the Target version). Each Beautycounter for Target item purchased online or via stores comes with a promo code in the box that you can use on my site for a special offer (expires December 31st). If you use that code during September it is a free mascara ($29 retail and Allure Magazine Best of Beauty 2016 award winner). In October it will be a different special offer. Beautycounter is also giving a Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation sample pack with any purchase until October 31st.
So…………..if you buy the Cleansing Balm from me and you bought something from Target and you have the promo code you would end up with Cleansing Balm + Mascara + Tint Skin Samples for $55 (full retail price for all that would be $109). If you are a Band of Beauty member then 15% of that $55 purchase goes towards your next purchase as a credit!
If you are thinking about trying something from Beautycounter contact me and I can send you samples or head to Target (limited collection only for 8 more weeks or until supplies last) to try some smaller sizes of our bestsellers. If you like them you can get full sizes from me!
Yes, our price points may be higher than what you can get at the drugstore. But our products are safer and if you leverage all the amazing deals we offer monthly, you can really get a lot of bang for your buck!
PS – Snap a pic of the Beautycounter for Target goodies you purchased and post to my Facebook page, Instagram, Twitter, or email account. Don’t forget to tag me! I will pay shipping for your next $50+ order in September (this includes the order you use for your Gift with Purchase)!
